Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive, in-office treatment requiring no anesthesia.  Shockwaves are delivered outside of the body to the area of discomfort utilizing a combination of bio-feedback and “Point and Shoot” method, triggering the body’s own repair mechanisms to initiate natural healing.

Orthopedic Indications

The Dornier Aries provides an effective treatment for a large spectrum of orthopedic applications of the musculoskeletal system.

Lateral epicondylitis
Plantar fasciitis
Achillodynia
Anterior tibia syndrome
Patella tendinitis
Lower back pain
Trigger point therapy

Urologic Indications

The Dornier Aries provides a minimally-invasive treatment option for induratio penis plastica (IPP) and erectile dysfunction (ED) of vascular aetiology.

Effect of ESWT on ED

The following effects could be identified in the course of clinical evaluations:

  • Improved blood flow in the corpus cavernosum
  • Stimulation of growth factors supports angiogenesis
Effect of ESWT on IPP

The following effects can be observed:

  • Relief of erectile pain
  • Stabilisation of plaque size
  • Stabilisation or improvement of the penile curvature
  • Improved blood flow
  • Improved quality of life

Ergonomic Applicator

The lightweight, ergonomic design of the applicator allows for comfortable handling during treatments. The integrated control buttons of the applicator permit convenient single hand operation when adjusting the energy level and shockwave frequency.

Smart Focus

Variable penetration depths with a single applicator are achieved with the special design of the focus channel. Not requiring gel pads, Dornier Aries eliminates the need for cumbersome and time consuming exchange during treatment.

Easy Operation

Dornier Aries is equipped with an intuitive user-friendly touch screen interface.

Mobile Use

The Dornier Aries’ compact design, small footprint and moderate weight make mobile use very easy. Options for mobile transport include a two-shelf cart with drawer and a wheeled transportation trolley.

Technology

Dornier continues to develop new technologies to obtain the highest level of effectiveness and treatment flexibility. The result is low re-treatment rates, patient comfort and improved treatment efficacy.

  • EMSE Advantage

The unique design of Dornier’s flat electromagnetic shockwave emitter (EMSE) gives the physician a clear advantage for orthopedic indications. Unlike other technologies, the Dornier EMSE produces consistent and repeatable shock waves. Due to its wide power range and penetration depth, Aries has the ability to effectively treat a variety of indications using this flat EMSE technology.

  • Smart Focus

The Smart Focus applicator emits loosely focused shock waves created by the EMSE for a greater range of treatment options than other non-focused shockwave systems. The benefit is the ability to treat a broad variety of areas from superficial surface to deeper muscular areas.

  • Touch Screen Interface

The Dornier Aries integrated touch screen provides easy operation and is easy to clean. The intuitive user menu guides the user through the different operating modes. Retrieval of preset treatment protocols for specific indications allows unit setup quickly before treatment. Additionally, ESWT treatment data can be displayed in the form of a 2D diagram. This allows a quick overview of shock wave usage and energy levels to conveniently monitor treatment progress.
